Abstract
In 2005, the Taite Road Environmental Maintenance Plan was developed to address issues related to the non-functioning drainage structures and subgrade erosion on a short section of Taite Road. The treatment objectives were to reduce the likelihood of further damage to the road prism and drainage works, thereby protecting existing investments and forest resources in the vicinity of Taite Creek. Taite Road is used to access areas with outstanding silviculture obligations. It is also used by a backcountry ski-touring operator and recreational hunters. Taite Creek is classified as an S-5 stream at the proposed work site. Approximately six km downstream it is classified an S-2 stream. Taite Creek is a domestic watershed with the intake approximately 8 km downstream of the work site. Frances Swan.
