Abstract
Viner River drains a watershed with an area of approximately 25 km2. The river supports 9 km of fish habitat in the mainstem and tributary reaches that is accessible to anadromous fish species. Coho, chum, pink and sockeye salmon as well as steelhead, rainbow and cutthroat trout have been documented in the system. Objectives: Restoration and riparian work completed in Reaches 6 and C1 is designed to preserve the decomposing LWD functioning within the channel. The enhanced structures create stable mainstem spawning habitat for chum and coho salmon, and also provide rearing habitat for coho salmon and trout.
