Survey history and status of Northern Mountain Caribou populations in the Northeast region of BC 2016-2021  2022  Annual Report (Pelletier & Watt, 2022): reports on a review of historical and current population data for the Northern Mountain Designatable Unit (COSEWIC DU 7), including the Graham, Pink Mountain, Muskwa, Frog, Gataga, Rabbit, and Liard Plateau caribou herds. Monitoring of these herds has historically been inconsistent, though it has increased for Graham and Pink Mountain in recent years to assess effects of ongoing predator management. The authors recommend more consistent monitoring moving forward, a review of herd boundaries, and implementation of additional recovery actions.  wsi_6043_rpt_2016-2021.pdf (3.1 MB)
