The primary objective of this plan is to ensure productive and diverse wetland and riparian systems, with the highest priority action being to conduct mapping to determine the abundance, distribution, and category of riparian and wetland habitats.

This mapping and prioritization project identified, categorized, and prioritized the conservation value of over 12,000 ha of wetland and riparian habitats in the Puntledge watershed, comprising 20% of the total watershed area. The project identified that the Puntledge watershed, and especially the lower watershed, historically supported an abundance of riparian and wetland habitats. Much of these habitats have been degraded by urban development, forestry, and agriculture.
