A desktop study to identify stream reaches within the Koksilah watershed where there is a likelihood of hydraulic connection with underlying aquifers such that groundwater extraction from water wells will potentially reduce streamflow, particularly during critical low flow periods.

Audience:  Government and Public

The Koksilah River is an unregulated stream on the east coast of Vancouver Island that has been identified as vulnerable to low flows during the dry season, which may affect the habitat and survival of aquatic life. Determining the likelihood of hydraulic connection of wells to streams in the Koksilah watershed is vital to effective management of environmental flows and access to water for users.
