Abstract: This study was undertaken in an effort to obtain a better understanding of ecosystems supporting the best growth Douglas-fir in order to propose and test a specific silvicultural regime for these ecosystems. The growth of Douglas-fir on other less productive ecosystems could then be improved through the application of silvicultural treatments that attempt to simulate some of the conditions of the most productive ecosystems.
