Details: Training will be based on the results obtained from the Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping project (VATFL266081 #6081003) completed by the District of Mission in 2002 as well as the Enhanced Silviculture Strategy Type I (COTFL266210 #6210004) completed in 2003. Both of these projects produced new information, understandings and conclusions about forest management strategies and options. For the most effective use of this information, there is now a need to conduct a field trip to bring the findings to life along with technology transfer and group discussions. As such, the field trip to sites within TFL 26 will review: -Ecological classification and management interpretations/options on several sites in the Coastal Western Hemlock (dm & vm1) -A selection of challenging or interesting sites where new concepts and management options will be presented and discussed. -Examples of some recent reforestation, spacing, commercial thinning and stagnating Hw stands based on observations from the Terrestrial Ecosystem Mapping (TEM), Silviculture Strategy and fertilization field work.
