Abstract: This report summarizes information gathered to date in the coastal grizzly bear project and presents the working plan for 1985. Ecological units have been amalgamated into bear habitat units (BHU's) and cross-referenced to forest cover units. Preliminary data on grizzly use of these BHU's are presented. Information of grizzly bedding, marking, feeding, and cover is outlined and discussed. Home range information on 12 radio marked bears is presented. Preliminary results of the effects of forest practices on grizzlies are presented and discussed. Grizzlies were found to avoid a zone defined by the extent of logging truck noise during logging. Experiments to test the importance of security cover and thermalcover are discussed. The 1985 working plan outlines field objectives for 1985, states hypotheses to be tested and presents a data analysis strategy and reporting schedule.
