Abstract: The purpose of this booklet is to provide resource managers with an easy to use field guide to the identification of sedges in the Cariboo Region. Sedges are grass-like plants that belong to the genus Carex in the family Cyperaceae. Although predominantly associated with the numerous wetlands that occur throughout the region, many sedges are also found in the forest, in the grassland, and in the alpine. They are an important source of forage for both livestock and wildlife.
