This report provides a regional inventory of the occurrence and frequency of landslide activity on the Queen Charlotte Islands. The survey was based entirely on a systematic analysis of small scale (1:50 000) panchromatic aerial photographs. The survey results are presented on a 1:250 000 scale overview map, "Slope Failure Intensity" , which displays the concentration levels of landslides in 3153 UTM cells expressed as three intensity classes: Moderate (one to three failure per square kilometer), Severe (four to seven failures per square kilometer), and Extreme (more than eight failures per square kilometer). The analysis of frequency patterns in UTM cells grouped into nine classes of landscape attributes indicates a strong correlation of landslide intensity with topographic, physiographic, and climatic Characteristics of the landscape. The most significant factor that exerts a strong influence over the intensity level is usually a combined effect of topography, climatic conditions, and physical land characteristics.
