With this guide a silviculturist may evaluate plantations in the Prince Rupert Forest Region to: 1. compare the total height, or height increment performance, of a particular plantation, to the mean performance of plantations in the local area; 2. determine whether the performance of that plantation is deteriorating or improving when compared to the mean; 3. determine the effects of various height/age and height increment/age "free-growing" guidelines on the acceptance and rejection of operational plantations in the local area. This guide does not set height/age or height increment/age "free-growing" standards, nor does it constitute a legally required survey at this time. It does, however, provide information that should assist silviculturists in defining objective goals for plantation performance .
