Effects of Forest Herbicides on Some Important Wildlife Species Balfour, P.M.

Abstract: The purpose of this report is to consolidate information on the effect of forest herbicides on important wildlife forage species. This was accomplished by reviewing herbicide trial results from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho. No original research was done. From the approximately 1300 entries analyzed, summary results were tabulated on the basis of chemical type, and rate and season of application. It is hoped that the identification of both the "demonstrated" and "unknown" effects will assist the evaluation of herbicide prescriptions and the direction of further studies.
