Abstract: Forest fertilization is one of the available practices used to increase forest productivity by the adding to the existing nutrient supply of the soil. The goal of this project is to develop site-specific guidelines for coastal Douglas-fir fertilization decision-making for industrial use. For each major site type in the very dry and dry maritime Coastal Western Hemlock biogeoclimatic subzones, these guidelines propose the most response fertilizer treatment(s) (if such a treatment(s) was identified) and give an estimate of the three-year growth response (possibly five-year growth response, if the study is extended) for spaced immature Douglas-fir stands in southern coastal British Columbia.
