Several seed sources of Abies Iasiocarpa were subjected to various stratification treatments. Germination, moisture content, respiration, and protein content were monitored during stratification and incubation at three thermoperiods (15°C/10°C, 25°C/15°C, and 30°C/20°C). Seed performance was related to seed respiration and storage protein levels. The results of this study will be used in forest nurseries to: improve techniques for releasing seeds from dormancy; increase germination vigour; optimize environmental conditions during germination; and improve the ability of foresters to assess seed quality and vigour.
