Abstract: This report describes a computer program and look-up table designed to replace and extend the Van Wagner's (1972) diurnal FFMC table (option 2), made obsolete because of scale equation changes made in 1984. This program is expected to be applied, most commonly, for projecting FFMC values for any hour or sequence of hours up to 24 hours ahead, as input to wildfire or prescribed fire behaviour prediction. The program may not be appropriate for summer use significantly north of 60 degrees latitude since the predicted late afternoon and evening trend of increasing fine fuel moisture content represents typical mid-latitude trends. North of 60 degrees, in summer, litter moisture has been found to stay near mid afternoon levels through the early evening hours.
