This report addresses the need for a Data Sharing Network (DSN) to be supported by stakeholders within the Mackenzie Timber Supply Area. The main goal of this project is to have simple and fast access to integrated, science-based land and resource geographic information. It also strives to achieve provincial data management goals such as consolidated data management, the adoption of common data standards, and the promotion of sound data management principles among users. The project will also assist with the transfer of some inventory and analysis responsibilities from the public sector to the private sector. This project will provide stakeholders with a website interface for simple and fast digital data exchange. Future cost saving will be realized by the adoption of common data standards and procedures to facilitate the efficient flow of data between participants.
