The overall objective of the Mahatta River WRP is to mitigate the negative impacts of past forest development in the Mahatta River riparian area. It should be made clear that the end result of the restoration process is not a pristine watershed but one that has a functional ecosystem and has the resources to progressively increase its ability to sustain its aquatic, riparian, and terrestrial ecosystems.
