Branch roads MC12B and MC12B3 were constructed between 1976 to 1985, most likely with excavators and tractor crawlers. Some road deactivation was carried out on the MC12B and MC12B3, generally consisting of cross ditches as well as some light fill slope pullback with windrowing below the ditchline. MC12B3 had cross ditches installed. Signs of recent instability were noted during a Level I (aerial) assessment and confirmed during a Level II detailed assessment. Terrain around MC12B and MC12B3 vary from moderately steep, cohesive basal till slopes to flatter areas of rocky outcrops overlain by basal till. Older construction across steeper terrain resulted in excessive roadfills with deep tension cracks that extended well into the running width of the road.
