Some road deactivation was previously carried out on the HC102c roads, following harvesting. This work consisted of a few cross ditches and waterbars. A slide initiated from the roadfill of HC102c 2002. The failure was likely the result of concentrated surface drainage from Hc102c and HC102c1 and over-steepened fillslopes. Surficial geology at the site consists of varying depths of glacial till (1-2 metres) lying between rock outcrops. The HC102c roads are located on mid- to lower slopes above the Beaver Cove Highway.
