NVISEA was contracted to perform a fish removal/salvage in support of a maintenance project being performed at the previously excavated Oktwanch river (site 3) off-channel habitat. The maintenance prescriptions addressed discontinuous flow conditions and a lack of deeper refuge pools along the backwater and groundwater channels found at this site. Two NVISEA employees executed the fry salvage in three stages. All captured fish were transplanted to the Oktwanch River mainstem or placed in wetted areas of the constructed channel system that had suitable habitat and would not be disturbed by the work being performed under the maintenance prescriptions.
