The intent of this project is to design a leave tree retention strategy for Tolko and the TSA that will build on lessons from past harvesting and current knowledge to gain an understanding of past amounts, distribution, patterns, species, quality, health to design a strategy for the future that will: · Reduce impacts on leave tree retention from windthrow, insects and disease and improve general stand conditions. · More effectively meet TSA objectives for the maintenance of biological diversity and habitat management. · More effectively fit with the TSA objectives for timber management. · Allow for more efficient use of local harvesting methods and silvicultural treatments.
