Abstract: PROBE is a well established, well-designed and well-documented study that has investigated vegetation management treatment effects in southern interior BC since 1991. The objective is to advance assessment, prediction and treatment of vegetation competition problems in young stands. It quantifies treatment effects of conifer productivity and plant community diversity, and also, identifies competition thresholds, effects on ecosystems attributes, and whether treatments are meeting management objectives. This proposal seeks funding to carry out standard and Bayesian analysis, to conduct specific long term measurements, to apply data in Expert System development, to investigate long-term plot conversions, and to publish journal and extension materials.
