Trout Creek Watershed: towards sustainable forest management Dobson Engineering Ltd.

Abstract: Gorman Bros. Lumber Ltd. initiated the development of a Sustainable Forest Management (SFM) report for the Trout Creek watershed that incorporates an assessment of watershed condition and past restoration sites, and identifies the opportunities for possible future restoration plans. The management unit includes the Bearpaw Creek, Bull Creek, and Isintok Creek sub-basins and the residuals below and above the domestic water intake. Other major licensees in the watershed include Riverside Forest Products Limited and BC Timber Sales. This SFM report integrates hydrologic, terrain stability and fisheries overview assessments to establish the watershed condition. Through the integration of terrain and fisheries information with hydrology information, the focus moves from a hydrology-based report to one that incorporates three key non-timber components of the ecosystem: water, terrain, and fish. Dobson Engineering Ltd., Sitkum Consulting Ltd. and Columbia Environmental Consulting Ltd.
