Western red-cedar (WRC) wood was extracted sequentially with six solvents using two extraction methods. The extracts were prepared for subsequent bioassay and analysed by high performance liquid chromatography for known bioactive compound concentrations. Disks of cellulose, Teflon and spruce heartwood were treated with known amounts of six WRC compounds and pentachlorophenol (PCP) which was used as a reference fungicide.
