Abstract: The purpose of this project is to design, test and implement a cost-effective and long term monitoring program on the effects of forest management on biodiversity in TFL 37, using salamanders as one indicator group. Although the focal group is terrestrial salamanders, other forest floor biota that can be easily recorded at the same time will also be monitored including other amphibians, gastropods, centipedes, millipedes, and beetles because similar data has been collected in other research on Vancouver Island (Ovaska and Sopuck 2001) and may be useful for future comparisons between sites. - Ecosystem Based Harvesting Effectiveness Monitoring Prepared for Canadian Forest Products Ltd..
