The existing culvert crossing on this stream was constructed and installed prior to the enactment of the Forest Practices Code. The installation is thought to have been installed some time in the late 1970?s/early 1980?s. The crossing location has historically exhibited periodic over flow washout issues during spring runoff and during periods of heavy storm rainfall. The Q100 is not met by the existing culvert, which is grossly undersized. Culvert washout is a concern, which may result in substantial fish habitat damage. The road is a FSR and qualifies under the FIA eligibility guidelines for restoration works. A Fish Passage Culvert Assessment was completed using the criteria identified in the Fish Passage Culvert Inspection Procedures, Watershed Technical Circular No.11. The total FPCI score was calculated at 41, placing it in the high priority class for replacement.
