M.C. Wright & Associates was contracted by Western Forest Products in 2007 to assess three priority sites within the Phillips River watershed: the lower 2 km of Clearwater Creek, the Bend B relic Phillips River channel in Reach 3 of the Phillips River, and the Wash Creek/ DFO Spawning Channel area below Phillips Lake. These sites were selected based on consultation with DFO, M.C. Wright & Associates working knowledge of the watershed, and from the findings of a 1:20,000.
Reconnaissance Fish and Fish Habitat Inventory of the Phillips River watershed conducted by Hatfield Consultants Ltd in 2001. The sites were assessed in Nov/Dec 2007 for fish habitat, channel morphology, disturbances, and restoration opportunities. The areas of focus and associated side channels were mapped using RTDGPS.
