A cage removal project was completed in March 2008 by the Gilford Band-Brinkman and Associates partnership. All cages (approx. 504/ha) on 25 ha were removed from around the Cw to release them before their growth was severely impeded by the protectors. The protectors were transported by helicopter and truck to a central cache where they will be removed at a later date. The Cw are now well established and not likely to require further treatment however a site could be scheduled for 2011 or 2012 to determine if fertilizing would be a beneficial treatment.
