The purpose of this project is to conduct a detailed ground based and aerial assessment upon 173.3 Km of non-status roads identified as moderate, high and very high risk previously inventoried by Madrone Environmental Services Limited between December 15 and March 21, 2006. The completed works will allow identification and priorization of candidate roads for any future maintenance and / or deactivation projects.
The objectives of the Project were to:
1) Confirmation of a hazard / consequence matrix specific to the Norrish Creek Study area; and
2) Verification of initial risk ratings through field checks which closely examined the previous road deactivation effectiveness. These assessment works to be directed by P.Geo and field assistants, in order to complete detailed field Data Cards for all moderate, high and very high risk roads; and
3) Create detailed spreadsheets for existing non-status roads, backspar trails and structures to determine Risk Rating and Project Feasibilty Rankings in order to effectively rank all potential projects for Risk, effectiveness of works and relevant Feasibility mapping; and
4) Clearly summarize all of the findings, deactivation work comments, detailed assessments as found necessary by P.Geo for site specific road segments involving infra structure, deactivation types, planned vehicular access strategies and recommendations within comprehensive detailed Reports (three bound copies with maps) and digital copy in PDF format with digital maps in shapefile and PDF format as
well as a project Completion Abstract.
