Over 100,000 ha of height repressed lodgepole pine stands (<10 m tall & > 30 years) exist in the Cariboo, predominantly on the Chilcotin Plateau. Currently there is little or no future timber value in these areas. Three trials have been established to test treatment options for returning this land to the productive forest land base. Treatments have included stand tending options (fertilization and thinning) and total stand replacement. Different fertilizer formulations are also being tested.
This funding is specifically to assess the 10th year response from the Rosita Fire installation (EP1221.02).
