16.3km of roads were permanently deactivated in the Milk and Morkill River drainages in 2008 under the FIA program. These roads were identified in 2007 and road deactivation prescriptions were developed the same year by Gary McFarland Consulting. Roads deactivated up the Milk River include CP113, 126, 112 and 998. Roads deactivated up the Morkill River include CP303 and 309.
Gainer Resources Ltd. was the road deactivation contractor which completed the entire project. The project was tendered through select tender to five local contractors with Gainer Resources Ltd. submitting the lowest bid. Gary McFarland Consulting was hired to complete the quality supervision for the project.
The contract was completed successfully by both contractors.
