The condition of the abandoned wood stringer bridge over Gracie Creek has deteriorated and was a liability from a safety and environmental perspective. The crib logs on the woods end of the bridge were failing and the decking was rotting making it unsafe for people pedestrian traffic. There was also a high risk of the bridge collapsing, impacting fish habitat downstream. If the bridge were to collapse the resulting blockage would likely have resulted in reduced sediment transport and channel aggrading upstream of the blockage.
