In the Deputy Chief Forester?s review of Tree Farm License (TFL) 49?s Management Plan #4 (MP4), issues were identified around how impacts from roads, trails and landings were integrated into the timber supply analysis work. Ministry of Forests and Range (MFR) staff had felt that the approach taken by Tolko underestimated the amount of area impacted by roads, trails and landings. Tolko has initiated this project to clear up any uncertainty around this issue and provide objective data to support netdowns in future timber supply analyses. The goal of the project is to:
1. Identify unproductive widths that can be attributed to different road types maintained in Tolko?s GIS datasets (Highways, Secondary Roads, Mainlines/FSR?s, Operational Roads, and Spur Roads).
2. Identify the percent of harvested blocks rendered unproductive as a result of trails and landings.
This initial document describes the sampling procedures to be used in the project.
