This project was developed to assist field staff working within Canfor?s FDA in identifying species and ecological communities identified by COSEWIC as endangered, threatened or of special concern as well as by the British Columbia Conservation Data Centre (CDC) as red- or blue-listed species. Only those species that are known to occur within Canfor?s FDA are included in this document. Other species are noted through both COSEWIC and CDC but are not included here as their habitat preferences are outside of forested ecosystems, their occurrence is documented as accidental, or they are not indicative of forest practices. The intention of this document is to provide basic species specific keys to identification, BEC zone and elevation distribution, key habitat characteristics as well as an overview of management strategies for each species.
