Mr. Chairman & Gentlemen:
I am glad to have the opportunity of speaking to you on a Sbbject which may be unfamiliar to some of you, because Genetics is one of the more modern of sciences and its application to Forestry even more recent. I do feel, however, that this little known and somewhat neglected field of Forest Genetics should have great future possibilities. My talk tonight will be brief, partly because there is a film to follow and partly because Genetics is a rather heavy subject to have to digest after supper. You will, therefore, understand that it is a wide field,to cover adequately in a short talk, but I think it will be worthwhile to devote a little time to a few facts about Genetics itself before discussing its application to Forestry.
