Abstract: With this publication an attempt is made to provide the general public with both an overview of the climate of the province of British Columbia and a background from which more detailed climatological information can be evaluated. The great diversity of climates in the province is illustrated, and the effect on climate of regional physiography, distance from the Pacific Ocean and physical climatological processes are described. Several long-term Atmospheric Environment Service climatological stations, which together characterize the full spectrum of regional climates, are considered for this publication. The data from these stations were extracted from various publications produced by Environment Canada and are presented in both graphical and tabular form. Station descriptions are provided for all stations considered in this publication and a small section on conversions is included for those not accustomed to the S1 metric system.
