Abstract: The carrying capacity of Nuaitch Creek, a small tributary of the Nicola/Thompson River systems of south central BC was studied by the Fish Habitat Improvement Section, October 16-18, 1979. This stream was reported in 1979 to have an estimated return of 100 steelhead of which 60 spawned. Theoretical steelhead smolt yield, based on fall population and standing crop estimates, indicated that less than 200 smolts are produced directly in Nuaitch Creek. The major component of smolt production contributing to the Nuaitch adult return occurs in the mainstem Nicola River as a result of Nuaitch Creek recruitment.
