Public concern about the declining numbers of Okanagan Lake kokanee has been consistently expressed since the late 1980s. Responding to these concerns the provincial government sponsored a technical workshop in March 1995, where existing data on Okanagan Lake was reviewed and hypotheses for the kokanee decline where evaluated by representative stakeholders, research scientists and biologists.
