Abstract: Inconnu look like a salt water tarpon. They are the largest and fastest-growing member of the whitefish family. Inconnu have a long, tapering body with a long, broad head with a lower jaw that juts out beyond the upper jaw. At the tip of the lower jaw there are rows of tiny, fine, densely-packed teeth that feel like velvet to the touch. The large fins are darktipped and the tail is forked. They have an adipose fin, a soft, fleshy fin on the back just in front of the tail. Inconnu are bright silvery fish with green to pale brown on their backs; the sides are silver with silverywhite below.
