This document provides a categorization and assessments of the indigenous fish species potentially at risk in British Columbia. The categorization is based on the information used to construct the flow chart at the end of the General Introduction and Summary section (page iv). The available Conservation Data Center (CDC) listings (Cannings 1993) are used to categorize the CDC species into three risk levels (highest, high-moderate, lowest) in the top half of this flow chart. The establishment of this hierarchy provinces a different operational view of the CDC listings and reveals other overall patterns and prioritizations of risk. Research, inventory and conservation recommendations are provided based on these patterns and also prioritized to further their overall utility. This hierarchy, prioritization and recommendations should assist the Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks (MELP) and other personnel establish programs to effectively investigate and conserve these and other species.
