Abstract: The intention of the workshop was to review the development of habitat management guidelines across the province. There was a general consensus among the workshop participants that guidelines for habitat management are necessary to ensure routine consideration of habitat in land management planning and land use. The proliferation of guidelines across the province caused concern. A uniform set of rules with multi-agency involvement and approval would be most workable for all parties (Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Forests and the Forest Industry). The workshop participants identified many unresolved issues that needed to be addressed to coordinate the development of effective habitat management guidelines. A technical working committee was proposed to deal with some of these issues.
