Abstract: Quennell Lake is located approximately 13 km southeast of Nanaimo. It is surrounded by private land, but there are several undeveloped public access points. At the request of the Regional Fisheries Section (Nanaimo), the Fisheries Improvement Unit (FIU) undertook a 1986-87 assessment of fisheries enhancement potential and opportunities for this lake. A detailed lake survey was not the intention of this study. This had previously been conducted by the Inventory Unit on May 30, 1985 (Grant, 1986). Data collected by FIU in summer 1986 and spring 1987 related specifically to fisheries enhancement considerations, as will be outlined in appropriate sections to follow.
