The invited speakers included representatives from a
variety of agencies participating in or related to the
WRP, including various government agencies, Forest
Renewal BC, the Forest Practices Board, and the U.S.
Forest Service. The summaries of all talks appear in the
Insert (pg. 7A to 16A). Conference participants covered
a broad span of backgrounds and interests including
representatives from the forest industry (13%),
consulting firms (37%), First Nations (1%), contractors
(6%), environmental organizations (6%), and staff from
the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) (2%),
Ministry of Environment Lands and Parks (MELP)
(17%), Ministry of Forests (MOF) (12%), and Forest
Renewal (5%). The most important part of the conference
program was the opportunity for participants to
break into smaller “break-out” groups to discuss and
review components of the WRP (Figure 1).
