During a steelhead creel survey conducted from January to April 1984, 770 anglers were interviewed and 122 instantaneous counts were completed. An estimated 11,798 angler days (4.2 hours per angler day) were spent fishing for 4960 steelhead (0.42 fish per day), 29% of which were hatchery fish. A total of 393 fish were killed, representing 8% of the total catch. The 1984 creel survey was compared to the 1983/84 Steelhead Harvest Analysis questionnaire which sampled a slightly different time period. The questionnaire estimate of effort was 30% greater than the creel survey estimate. That difference is consistent with comparisons between the questionnaire and other creel surveys. However, the questionnaire estimate of total kill was 55% greater than the creel census estimate representing a much greater than average difference. The average difference between the questionnaire estimates and estimates from the 1984 and 1985 creel censuses indicate that the questionnaire overestimates effort by 36% and total kill by
