Abstract: This catalogue was prepared to fill the need for an up-to-date, annotated list of British Columbia bird species and subspecies. It uses five taxonomic categories: order, family, genus, species, and subspecies. Order has the highest ranking and subspecies the lowest. This catalogue follows the American Ornithologists' Union (AOU) check-list sixth edition (1983) and its supplements for the phylogenetic order and nomenclature of British Columbia bird species. Each species account includes the scientific and common names of the taxon (species or subspecies), the status in British Columbia, the reference for the original description of the taxon, the locality where the taxon was collected and the range of the taxon. This catalogue lists 467 species and 633 taxa at the species or subspecies level. Of the latter taxa, 426 are regular breeders in British Columbia, 89 are regular visitors (migrants or winter residents), 115 are irregular visitors (casual or accidental visitors occurring less than annually), one is ext
