Abstract: The numbers of California bighorns, as well as their ranges, have undergone considerable reduction in British Columbia since primitive times. In order to assemble information which would indicate good management practices for this rare game animal, preliminary investigations were made of sheep west of the Fraser River in 1950 and 1951. These surveys revealed that more study was necessary to obtain a true picture of the bighorns’ status and to indicate factors preventing their recovery of past numbers.
