In order to obtain more complete and up-to-date information about hunting activity in British Columbia, an extensive survey of resident and non-resident hunters was undertaken by the Fish and Wildlife Branch of the Ministry of Environment. The survey was intended to establish estimates of hunters’ expenditures and the values that they placed on their hunting experiences in British Columbia during the 1981 calendar year. The survey was also meant to determine profiles of hunters’ socio-economic characteristic and estimates of hunter efforts and harvest. As such, the results of the provincial hunter survey supplement and complement existing sources of information about hunting activity in British Columbia.
