The accompanying report is a proposed present land use classification for British Columbia. It is intended for use by resource managers, land use planners and other professionals working in the rural settled area of the province.
This is a first edition of this publication. It has received technical input from various government agencies, including B.C. Ministries of Agriculture and Food, Environment, Lands Parks and Housing, Municipal Affairs, plus B.C. Assessment Authority, Agricultural Land Commission, Agriculture Canada and Environment Canada. However, it has not been field tested. With use, it is expect4ed that some revisions may be necessary to enable the classification to meet the needs of potential users in the long term.
