Abstract: In October and November 1998 the Ministry of Environment conducted an assessment of potential marbled murrelet nesting habitat in the Effingham Landscape Unit (LU). Forest cover map sheets were consulted and colour coded to reflect age class 9 and 8 and height class 6, 5 and 4. Air photos were interpreted and potential nesting areas were delineated. The Ministry of Forests Small Business program kindly provided helicopter time to survey several potential nesting habitat areas from the air. This augmented earlier aerial surveys carried out with Interfor in their portion of the LU. The results from these surveys are summarized in the document and on the enclosed map.
