On May 14, 1999, Bernard K. Schroeder and the BC Conservation Foundation were awarded the Ministry of Forests South Island Forest District Marbled Murrelet inventory project for various locations in Barkley Sound. The information was gathered to assists resource managers in accounting for habitat requirements of Marbled Murrelets in forest development plans. This report covers the methods and results of the survey effort for 1999, and includes a brief discussion on project organization, personal qualifications, surveying techniques, and quality control. It then summarizes the findings for the 1999 inventory including the number of sites, number of visits, number of detections, and status for each site in the project.
